Build your own offshore development center in India
InCommon handles the setup and ongoing support, while your team reports directly into your engineering leadership.

What changes when you own the center
Most offshore development centers are vendor-run. The vendor employs the team, sets the process, and holds the relationship, so your engineers report to a vendor manager whose incentives are not quite yours.
InCommon builds the center the other way around. The India entity is incorporated in your name, and the team reports into your own engineering leadership from day one. InCommon runs the setup and enablement layer, covered in detail below.
The result is a center that reads like an extension of your engineering org, run by your leadership from day one.

Isn't this just outsourcing?
Not when the team is built around your business, led by your people and accountable to your roadmap. Traditional outsourcing puts the team and its delivery process under a vendor's management.
An InCommon ODC gives you a dedicated India engineering team that reports directly into your leadership, works within your operating rituals and contributes as part of your organization.
InCommon handles what it takes to get the center running. You retain the operating relationship and the ability to shape the team as your needs evolve. Choose a leased workspace for a dedicated footprint or a managed workspace when flexibility matters more.

An InCommon ODC operates as part of your company from day one.
Your engineering leadership owns the roadmap, sets the standards and directs delivery, while the team works within your systems, rituals and reporting lines.
InCommon handles the operational foundation, including entity setup, hiring, workspace, IT, payroll and compliance. You retain the ownership and flexibility to shape the center as your business grows.
InCommon takes care of the work behind the scenes so your leadership can focus on building the capability itself.
What InCommon Sets Up
Entity setup
We incorporate your wholly owned India entity in about 12 weeks: SPICe+ incorporation, PAN and TAN, GST registration, provident fund and state insurance registrations, and FDI reporting on allotment.
Pod hiring
We assemble your eight-person delivery pod: an engineering manager, senior product manager, tech lead, three senior engineers, a product designer and QA/SDET. Your engineering leadership runs delivery, rituals and standards.
Scaling the center
Three or four pods make a center of 30 to 35 people. The reporting line stays with your CTO or VP Engineering throughout, not with InCommon.
Workspace
Leased space when you want a dedicated footprint, or managed space through WeWork and Indiqube when flexibility matters more. Either way, it's ready before the first pod starts.
IT
Devices, endpoint management, VPN and network, SSO and identity, an asset register, backup and recovery, set up before anyone starts.
Payroll and compliance
Payroll, statutory compliance, monthly accounting and audit support run inside your entity, not a vendor's books, with monthly reviews and accessible dashboards.

The ODC Set Up Journey
The process starts with defining the scope, team structure and operating model for your India center. InCommon then handles the local entity and operational infrastructure while your leadership team shapes the center’s engineering direction.
Once the foundation is in place, we build the leadership layer and hire the wider team around it, alongside workspace, IT and access setup. Your team goes live as an integrated part of your engineering organization, with the people, infrastructure and India operations ready to scale.
The setup is sequenced so each stage builds on the last, with clear ownership between your team and InCommon throughout. From the initial agreement to the first day of operations, the goal is to move from a defined plan to a functioning India engineering center without leaving operational gaps.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who owns the IP and the code?
You do. The center is structured so code, product knowledge, and IP belong to your company from the start. Employment, IP assignment, access control, and repository governance are handled as part of the setup so ownership is clear before the first sprint begins.
What is the difference between an ODC and a GCC?
A traditional offshore development center is often vendor-run and optimized for capacity. A GCC is a company-owned capability center built for long-term control, IP integrity, and roadmap ownership. This page describes an ODC-framed owned capability center: it gives US engineering leaders a faster India setup while keeping the ownership logic closer to a GCC.
How do we know the pod will be any good?
Every hire is vetted by someone who has done the job, not a generalist recruiter, before they reach your panel. About 33% of the candidates InCommon sends are hired, and every hire carries a six-month replacement guarantee.
What happens when our roadmap changes?
The pod model is skill-agnostic by design. Because each pod has engineering, product, design, and QA leadership, capacity can be redirected as your roadmap changes. You are building an adaptable capability under your own leadership, not renting a fixed vendor team for a fixed scope.
How long does ODC setup India take with InCommon?
The target setup path is 12 weeks for the operating foundation, including incorporation workflows, statutory registrations, payroll, workspace, compliance, and first-pod hiring. Some hiring outcomes can move faster depending on role complexity, interview speed, and location strategy.
